Joshua Webster R.Ac (nicknamed Kunga) has been an avid practitioner of yoga and meditation for over ten years. Kunga received his yoga teaching certification from The Yoga Center Winnipeg, and a certification in applied meditation from the Asian Classics Institute. He has attended many meditation retreats in the Vipassana tradition. His yoga style is based on the principles of Iyengar yoga, Astanga yoga, and Tibetan heart yoga. His practice and teaching is influenced by his main teacher Hart Lazer as well as the many talented teachers he has worked with, and studied under, at various studios in North America, and Ashrams in India and abroad.
Joshua lived as a Buddhist Rabjung Monk for more than two years, and practiced for meditation at monasteries in the US and India. He studied with the late Buddhist Lama, Khen Rimpoche Surmey Geshe Lobsang Tharchin.
Joshua is also a martial artist who has received his black belt in Shaolin Hung Gar Kung Fu, and is a certified Tai chi instructor from the Cold mountain Internal Arts.
Joshua currently works at "Lavender Lane Wellness Centre" in Waterloo Ontario practicing Acupuncture, Shiatsu, Tuina and more.
Joshua enjoys teaching people how to bring these practices into their modern-day, often hectic, lives and schedules. His primary goal in teaching yoga is to provide students with the tools they need to bring more joy, health and happiness into their lives and the lives of those around them.
My yoga and meditation practice bring me balance and inspiration in my life. After I practice I feel deeply invigorated and energized and I can't help but want to share that with others.
Joshua has been working with people with disabilities for over 8 years. He previously spent time teaching self defense and yoga in high schools and at charitable events. Joshua is a certified Toastmaster and enjoys public speaking.
